Full House: A Solid Winning Hand in Poker

Known as one of the winning hands in poker, a full house is guaranteed to bring card players an insurmountable amount of success. Despite being only fourth overall in the poker hand rankings, this poker hand can mean instant success on top of the poker table because of its better probability and higher odds than the other three best winning poker card combinations, namely the royal flush, straight flush, and four-of-a-kind. So far, many players have already benefited from using this certified winning poker hand in various game situations.

Otherwise known as the full boat, this winnable poker hand is basically made up of five cards, three of which have the same value, going with a single pair. A good example of this winning card combination is the set J, J, J, 10, and 10, which is a really high-valued full boat considering the great value of jack as an individual card. Aside from being infrequently referred to as a 'three over pair,' other players call this winning poker hand a 'three full of pair.'

Compared to the other prestigious card combinations lying above the poker hand rankings such as royal flushes and straight flushes, players have better chances of getting a full house. In a regular 52-card deck, there are a total of 3,744 potential full boats available. In contrast with the .024 percent of a four-of-a-kind and .0015 percent of a straight flush, the probability of getting a full house stands at a relatively high 0.14 percent.

Regardless of the high value of this winning poker hand, it still falls short in value compared to some of the card combinations at the upper level of the poker hand rankings. When matched against a four-of-a-kind, a full boat does not stand a chance to win against such rare and precious card combination. When pitted against a straight flush, poker players might as well fold out of the game right from the very start. When going against a royal flush, a full boat is simply incapable of overthrowing this jackpot-like poker card combination.

On the contrary, a full house is dominant when compared to the other card combinations in the poker hand rankings. While flushes cannot defeat this hand at any point of a regular poker game, straight card combinations are limited when matched against a 'three full of pair.' While also containing three cards having similar values, a three-of-a-kind is not as good as a full house. With all these situations given, the two pair, one pair, and high card poker hands might as well give way to this winning poker hand right from the very beginning of a single poker game.
